Community benefit from computer centre in Molweni Valley
Monday, 24 February 2014

Reutech Communications, a division of Reutech (Pty) Limited,  and owned by JSE listed group, Reunert Limited, partnered with the Philangethemba Trust to build and equip a computer training centre at the Tholulwazi High school in the Molweni Valley, Kwa-Zulu Natal.  "This centre will be used by local school children and the community members alike,"  says Tholulwazi school principle Mr Thami Shawula.

The training centre was launched on 24 January 2014 and is well equipped with 50 workstations for learners to master basic computer skills and programmes, under the tutelage of trainer Siya Kubheka, currently the computer trainer from the Tholulwazi High school.

In sweltering heat, the launch was celebrated with traditional Zulu dancing, choir singing and thanksgiving from local dignitaries.  A wonderful lunch was enjoyed by 250 learners and guests from the community and representatives from Reutech and Reunert.

Says Martin de Beer, CEO of Reutech Communications:  "Our company, together with the Philangethemba Trust, has a long-term vision to provide relevant technical computer skills to assist learners and members of the community, to qualify for entry-level jobs in mainstream industry."  Reutech has already employed members of the community and will develop selected individuals with specific skills required in the industry, thus playing a major role in creating employment.
